Villa Joanna, near Agios Stephanos (N/E)

Set amongst mature gardens, this well appointed detached Villa enjoys an ideal location in the village of Liondari  halfway down the small country road leading to Agios Stephanos and Kerasia Bay, great for those who want to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this charming fishing village but also wish to explore the rest of the beautiful north-east Corfu with ease. The Villa has been recently modernised from apartments to this family style villa it is today, giving you plenty of space for friends and families alike. All on one level, the Villa is an option for elderly or the infirm people in your party with just a few steps down to the swimming pool level.

Next door to Villa Maistro and Mistral Cottage, also on my website, Villa Joanna has been attractively designed in traditional Corfiot style with sunny yellow walls contrasting with deep green doors and shutters.

The gardens boast Palms, Roses, Geraniums, Olive and Lemon trees looked after by the proud owners. There is also shaded car parking under the large olive tree as you enter the grounds to the Villa.

The same outlook can be enjoyed from the swimming pool which is surrounded by an inviting sunbathing terrace and separate barbeque area for ‘al fresco’ out door eating!

Villa Joanna is modestly furnished, but the simplicity of the interior is more than compensated for by the ravishing views enjoyed from every balcony. As you enter the Villa it opens to the kitchen with dining area and seating for 6 people and a small lounge beyond with fireplace, TV, DVD and CD player’s. The kitchen has a full electric oven with ceramic hob, extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine for your use.

More information about a few of the nearby villages and small town close to Villa Joanna:

Agios Stephanos (North East)

As you drive from Villa Joanna down to nearby Agios Stephanos (N/E), the lavish vegetation changes and the ubiquitous olive and cypress trees give way to a dense carpet of shrubs, ferns and grasses. Naturally, this scenery is at its most rewarding – particularly for walkers and nature-lovers, in spring and early summer, when innumerable shades of green are at their most intense and jostle for space with the joyful yellow of Spanish broom, the vivid red of poppies, the pure white of elderflower and the mellow blue-purple of wild lavender. Attracted by the fragrant scent, butterflies the colours of lemons, oranges and limes dance capriciously from blossom to blossom. With every twist and turn of the narrow, meandering lane that leads down from the coastal road to the sea, another vista unfolds.

Agios Stephanos is a pretty little harbour with lots of water’ activities in its horseshoe shaped bay, sea front tavernas and something of interest for visitors of all ages. It lies against a backdrop of dramatic rugged hills and looks across the sea to Albania. With its two mini-markets, an exchange office, two sophisticated cocktail bars, two boat hire agents and gift shops all to be found on the harbour front of this picturesque traditional Greek fishing village, relatively unchanged for the last 20 years when tourism first hit the island of Corfu.
Reached by a narrow winding lane this picturesque inlet half hidden by trees has remained totally unspoilt, though it is only a few kilometers from the popular resort of Kassiopi. The immediate area of the village is a tranquil haven with individual rental properties dotted amongst pinewoods and olive groves, leading down to a series of quiet beaches.

Kassiopi

Kassiopi, the largest town in the north, is a thriving harbour town catering for all tastes.
A place that combines mountain with sea, green with blue, new with old, tranquility with liveliness, the locals that make you feel welcome and important to them, it fulfils the needs of all ages with many choices for day or night. Kassiopi is situated on the north east coast of Corfu at 36 kilometers from Corfu Town and is surrounded by lush green slopes of olive trees and charming little bays. It’s picturesque amphitheatre shaped port, it’s well preserved church, it’s cosmopolitan finesse, it’s deep blue and hospitable shores, the sight of the huge Byzantine fortress that looms over the village as well as the varied and affordable choices of bars and restaurants will enchant it’s visitors. The main harbour is full of local fishermen by day, but comes alive at night with the many bars and tavernas which line the waterfront.
It’s easy to reach every Kassiopi beach, all of which are clean and safe. You will find EU blue flags here and at nearby Kalamionas beach. Children in Kassiopi will enjoy the flat main beach which is safely away from traffic. Other Kassiopi beaches and secluded coves with fewer facilities are found around the beautiful headland. Most of Kassiopi beaches are pebbly but there are plenty of them and they can be charmingly small and secluded.

Kerasia

At one end of the bay is a solitary taverna, set by the waters edge and by the small jetty where caiques bring temporary visitors for lunch or drinks. By evening the only boat left is the odd yacht spending the night at anchor and peace descends on Kerasia, a true ‘away-from-it-all’ retreat and a lovely place in which to enjoy the fresh fish and home-made food served in the taverna.

Kerasia Beach is a shingle beach, with board walks to make it easier to get from your sun bed to the taverna for drinks, ice creams etc. There are also sun umbrellas as well as sun beds to hire for a small daily charge and showers, toilets and changing areas available. Kerasia beach is child friendly, it is flat and the water is quite shallow for a little way out, and then deepens quickly so caution is always recommended. The beach shop sells anything from towels and sun creams, to swim wear and books!
